Shipwright school blog - timber arrives at buckler's hard

March 12, 2014

12 March 2014 – The felled timber has arrived at Buckler’s Hard village, ready for the hand hewing and pit sawing to commence.

The tree logs have arrived from the Beaulieu estate woods in Buckler’s Hard Village.

Luckily the weather has been kind and dried up the ground.

The working area has been fenced off ready for action next week when we prepare for the Hewing and Pit sawing courses which will involve the selection, marking and cutting out of the oak beams for the new timber framed building that will be the Shipwright School.

Our courses in Hewing and Pit and Trestle sawing start on 24th March with demonstrations for the public on the 2nd – 4th April.
