Shipwright school blog - the building is nearly complete

At last the building is nearly in the dry. The roof tiler Nick Parr has suffered from a very windy and wet month as well as having to get additional re-claimed tiles as quite a few we got from a reclamation yard were broken. They came off an old barn and look great.

The building will then be fitted out with tool benches, electrics, some basic lighting and a wood stove so we can keep everyone warm and burn the waste wood.

We hope to run a Shipwright School Summer Camp in July to build some of the important infrastructure needed by the school. A sawpit, two capstans, a large A frame for lifting and a timber trolley. Watch this space for details.

The building gets lots of great comments from visitors to the village. People seem to think we are restoring an old building that’s been there for ages – little do they know the building was only trees in the wood in February this year!
