Final entries for photographic competition to capture natural beauty of the Beaulieu River

Amateur photographers who are inspired by the ever-changing beauty of the Beaulieu River are invited to send final entries for the 2026 competition.

Whether it’s a waterside view from the historic village, yachts sailing past the riverfront, an atmospheric sunset over the water or the rich wildlife that calls the river home, photographers are encouraged to capture what makes this special place memorable to them.

For many visitors, Buckler’s Hard provides a picturesque spot to enjoy and photograph the Beaulieu River, with its peaceful maritime setting offering fresh perspectives throughout the seasons. The river, which lies at the gateway to the New Forest National Park, supports habitats for more than 200 species of birds, alongside stunning natural scenery that continues to inspire photographers year after year.

From visitors enjoying a day out in Buckler’s Hard to Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour mooring holders exploring the river by boat, budding photographers have until October 31 to submit their entries for a chance to win the £200 first prize.

Lord Montagu will choose the winning image from photographs submitted by visitors and local residents throughout the year. The winning photograph will also feature in the 2027 Beaulieu River Tide Times & Information booklet.

The annual competition is open to all amateur photographers inspired by the unique character of one of the few privately owned rivers in the world. The Beaulieu River has been protected through the private custodianship of the Montagu family for more than four centuries, helping preserve its distinctive landscapes, wildlife and maritime heritage for future generations.
