Ships and Seafarers

Role play tours in which the children take the part of 18th Century visitors to see the village where ships for ‘Nelson’s navy’ are built, including his favourite Agamemnon.

Learn about Nelson, the Adams family and the cat-o-nine-tails, and more about life in the 18th Century village.

Trafalgar, Nelson & Buckler's Hard

Visit the village where three of the ships which took part in the battle of Trafalgar were built: Agamemnon- Nelson’s favourite, Euryalus- on which official news of his death was written, Swiftsure- took in tow the ship from which he had been shot.

Find out how these ships were constructed and see the launchways where they were built.

Discover what life at sea was like for those who took part in the battle. Learn about Nelson’s adventures as captain of the Agamemnon and see what he wore as a baby.
